Southern California Wildfires and San Diego County

The Fire Environment Triangle describes the relationship between the factors involved in wildfire behavior.  The balance or imbalance of the factors of weather, terrain and fuels dictate the fire hazard for any area.  As a result Southern California has been declared a disaster area.  La Jolla California is part of the danger area.

 

Some 250,000 San Diego County residents are being evacuated as a result of the wildfires that are straining the resources of Southern California firefighters.   There are more than a dozen wildfires stretching from north of Los Angeles to the Mexican border. 

 

These fires are hampered by the strong desert winds - Santa Ana winds
