Selling a home in La Jolla, The

PREPARING FOR THE "OPEN HOUSE"

Are you getting ready to sell your La Jolla home?  No matter what area of La Jolla that you live in, be it La Jolla Village, La Jolla Shores or even somewhere outside of the La Jolla Community, the "Open House" rules are all the same.  The first thing you will need to do is consult with your Realtor to establish a date and time for the open house.  Most are done on weekends when browsers and potential buyers have more time to drive through different neighborhoods.  The next step is for you, the seller, to make plans for yourself and/or your family.  Potential buyers may feel uncomfortable looking around someones home if the home owner is around.  It may also hinder your Realtor.  He or She may not feel comfortable speaking about your home right in front of you.

Some other tips include making your La Jolla Home safe.  Make sure that area rugs are securely down to avoid a fall.  Check to make sure there are no items left unattended that a child could be injured on.  Lock up your valuable items.  Even though your Realtor is there, your items cannot be monitored if there is more than one family browsing.  Make sure your home is clean and smells nice.  It is a known fact that most memories are created by smell.  It was once suggested by a realtor to burn an "apple" smelling candle to make folks "feel like home'.  Believe it or not, this has actually been know to work.

Most importantly, communicate with your Realtor.  They know what can make a home sell but they cannot do all of the work by themselves.
