Construction began on the first two roundabouts being added to Bird Rock as part of the Barratt American Seahaus development project in November, 2007. Using developer fees from La Jolla, bicycle grants and a $2 million "Smart Growth" competitive grant we won from the San Diego Association of Governments, the construction project was fully funded. The specified goals for the renovation include replacement of sewer main and laterals replacement on the 5600 and 5700 blocks of the boulevard and sewer main replacement in Forward Street, from La Jolla Hermosa to Beaumont and in La Jolla Mesa near Linda Rosa and Colima, the La Jolla Hermosa/Forward traffic circle is also in this package, and sewer main replacement on La Jolla Mesa, just south of Colima to just north of Linda Rosa, and on Colima, from Taft to La Jolla Mesa.
