La Jolla tops the most expensive city in the country for the second consecutive year

Good news for La Jolla home owners! While housing prices across the country continue to plummet, La Jolla home prices climb. According to the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®s (CAR) annual housing affordability index, La Jolla home values top the nation with the average 2007 sale price averaging $1.7 million for a 2,200-square-foot home. CAR predicts home prices will continue to climb, thanks to low mortgage-interest rates, an awakening economy, and a severe shortage of housing in the state of California.

Known as an upscale enclave community nestled in San Diego, La Jolla is lucky to have escaped the economic downturns and housing slump felt by much of the nation. La Jolla homes continue to sell and La Jolla homeowners continue to benefit from improving house values. Just check out this La Jolla Market Trends Report provided by Trulia.
